I’m excited to share another real wedding with you today! This one is very special and near and dear to my heart. I babysat her and her siblings as babies. Her getting married makes me feel so, so old! Time is a thief, but it is also so joyful to watch people grow. So, without further adieu, here is a look at Annie & Rey’s real destination wedding at Majestic Elegance in Costa Mujeres, Mexico.

About the Resort: Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres

Majestic is one of my favorite properties not only to work with, but to visit as well! The property was built in 2019, so it is fairly new, making it fresh & modern. The location with Isla Mujeres in the distance is perfect since the island protects Majestic’s beach from pesky sargassum–giving guests beautiful beach, ocean, and island views in the distance. The food is good, service is typically on point, and the rooms are shockingly spacious at such a great price point! I love the options for elevated service for adults in the Elegance Club section, but a great area for families as well. Bonus: Having worked with them for 3-4 weddings, the wedding team is bar-none, very responsive, and pulls off stunning events!

About the Celebration

This couple married in a traditional Catholic ceremony  in Texas in July and again in Mexico. Their dream was for everyone that wanted to celebrate with them to have the opportunity. I didn’t plan the Texas wedding but helped with the Mexico wedding from start to finish. ⁣

⁣Guests started the wedding weekend off with traditional fajitas at the welcome dinner at the resort’s Mexican restaurant, Mariachi Loco. Perfect name right?!

⁣Annie & Rey’s celebration continued with a beautiful, rainy wedding day. No one wants it to rain on their wedding day but beach weather is unpredictable and I’ve heard it means good luck for a lifelong marriage. The bride and groom rolled with the weather and the resort moved the ceremony under this beautiful terrace, after all, the show must go on. The night ended with a mariachi band, dinner, and dancing! 

⁣The couple enjoyed the resort so much they ended up extending their stay! Can’t think of a higher compliment to a location and their amazing staff. 

Q&A with the Couple

What were the most significant pain points that you were experiencing before finding DWD?
Overwhelmed with where to start with wedding planning, ensuring we could have a quality destination wedding during the timeframe we desired, and selecting a resort with quality food, drinks, bedrooms, staff, activities while also staying within budget.
If you could tell a newly engaged couple one thing about having a destination wedding, what would it be?
Do it! So worth it if you love to travel and want to celebrate this milestone in your life in a quality yet affordable way. Also, if you’re worried about who will attend, don’t. There are so many reasons why people can’t attend your wedding even if it’s local. Those who value travel won’t mind spending money to go to your wedding because they know they will get a vacation out of it also.
What was your vision for your wedding celebration? Did we create that for you?
Celebration of 2 cultures – Czech + Mexican – portrayed through simplistic boho chic, romantic vibes, delicious food + drinks, and dancing. Yes, our vision was created beyond what we could have imagined.
What was your vision for your guests’ experience? Did we create that for you?
Romantic, relaxing, fun – a quality experience to leave our guests feeling comfortable + welcomed as if they were at home. Yes, we felt our guests thoroughly enjoyed their time at our wedding at the Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres. Many of our guests shared with us that they wished they would have booked a longer stay. In fact, my husband and I extended our stay by 1 day, as we felt the same.
What do you think makes DWD Travel different?
Dana cares about you. Period.
What was one part of your wedding planning that you knew you couldn’t (or didn’t want to) do alone? How did DWD help with that?
Booking and answering questions about not only my husband and my travel arrangements, but more importantly, our guests’ travel. Dana took on the responsibility of booking, confirming, and communicating most travel arrangements.
