I’m excited to share another real wedding with you today! Although, I didn’t assist with the wedding planning of their celebration, working with Jaclyn & Tony has brought me true joy! They are a couple that anyone could easily love—down to earth, fun, and know what they want, which is so refreshing. Here is a look at Jaclyn & Tony’s real destination wedding at Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres in Mexico.
Jaclyn & Tony | Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres | February 27, 2024
About the Resort: Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres
Majestic is one of my favorite properties not only to work with, but to visit as well! The property was built in 2019, so it is fairly new, making it fresh and modern. The resort’s location, with Isla Mujeres in the distance, is perfect since the island protects Majestic’s beach from pesky sargassum–giving guests beautiful beach, ocean, and island views in the distance. The food is good, service is typically on point, and the rooms are shockingly spacious at such a great price point! Additionally, I love the options for elevated service for adults in the Elegance Club section, but a great area for families as well. Bonus: Having worked with them for 4-5 weddings, the wedding team is bar-none, very responsive, and pulls off stunning events!
About the Celebration
Jaclyn & Tony exchanged vows in front of family and friends beachside at the resort’s Beach Gazebo, utilizing the boardwalk for accessibility for the bride’s mom. To begin the transition to the party, the couple opted for a fun cocktail hour at the Beach Bar and a mariachi band to keep the merriment of the ceremony going! The reception easily shifted to the Sky Lounge, overlooking the ocean and ceremony location, allowing for ocean breezes, but, most importantly, allowing Jaclyn’s mom ease in accessing the venue via elevator. As the sun began to set, the party was under way, giving cotton candy skies and swaying palm trees as a dreamy setting for the first dance. Lastly, the party amped up as the stars came out, then the night ended with guests in the pool!
About the Wedding Decor
For their decor, the couple really leaned into the tropical setting, opting for ginger flowers, birds of paradise, palm leaves, and other tropical flowers for the floral arrangements. Florals from the ceremony were repurposed to the reception, freeing up budget for other items. Jaclyn & Tony carefully curated table decor, utilizing the bridesmaids’ bouquets for floral centerpieces along with floating candles. Black table runners added a little moodiness to the vibe, and unique, custom table numbers based on their favorite podcast, Circling Back! Place settings were done with rattan chargers and custom place cards from monstera leaves. The marquee LOVE lights and bistro string lights were the perfect additions for dancing the night away. An Interview with a Real Destination Wedding Couple Married at Majestic Elegance in Costa Mujeres
Jaclyn & Tony were truly a joy! I’ve never had a groom quite so involved in communication, and it was wonderful! Tony was truly, genuinely nice, and his kind words meant the world to me. I have no doubt he will make an amazing husband to Jaclyn, especially in the communicating feelings department. 🥰 Read on to hear all about what they had to say about their experience.
What were you most nervous about leading up to the wedding?
Just getting married in a different country can be stressful. Not having a ton of communication with the resort until a couple months out was stressful, but Dana really helped with that, especially given that she had a great relationship with the resort. Working with Dana relieved us with a lot of stress regarding transportation to and from the airport and booking the rooms. Not having to worry about that made the process so much more enjoyable.
What was your favorite part of the destination wedding planning process (prior to traveling)?
The fact that it didn’t feel like we had to lift a finger. Dana took so much stress off of our plates. From planning everything for our site visits (travel, resort, appointments, etc.), Dana made everything so easy and allowed us to focus on other things that were important in the process.
What was your favorite part your wedding day?
The day was PERFECT and everything pretty much went without a hitch. It was a little windy, but it made for a fantastic breeze in the evening. Aside from getting married, it was just being able to celebrate with our closest friends and family! Many guests commented on our wedding. The vibes were immaculate!
What was your favorite part of the whole trip, aside from the wedding day?
Getting to be on vacation with all of our friends and family! The resort was truly the perfect combination of a resort and a wedding venue!
Why Jaclyn & Tony Hired a Destination Wedding Planner
What in the process were you nervous about before finding DWD?
We did know pretty early on that we wanted to hire someone to help us with this entire process, but the trouble was finding the right person. We had met with a few different travel planners, but just didn’t feel it with them for a number of reasons. Dana just made us feel comfortable and was somebody that we felt like we could trust and we were right! There are so many different resorts in Cancun and there is so much that goes into the process that it’s hard to know where to start sometimes. I’m not sure we would have found our resort without her.
Think back to when you first met found DWD, why did you choose to work with us?
It was the overall feeling. We felt like Dana actually cared about us as a couple and wanted us to have the best possible experience. Based on reviews we read and the meeting we had with her, we knew that Dana was somebody that we could trust and was going to put our interests and needs first.
Did DWD prepare you for what to expect at the resort regarding finalizing your wedding plans? What could we do better?
I thought DWD did a fantastic job at preparing us for what to expect. She was always quick to respond when we had questions and we weren’t afraid to ask questions!
What do you think makes DWD Travel different?
Dana’s attention to detail and her genuine care for her clients. We felt like we were working with a friend on this process. She knows what she’s doing and has really great relationships.
What would you say to someone who is considering hiring DWD?
DO IT! Dana is fantastic and hiring her was some of the best money we spent!
Their Advice for Couples Considering a Destination Wedding
If you could tell a newly engaged couple one thing about having a destination wedding, what would it be?
Hire a travel planner! You may think it’s an unnecessary expense, but it was the best money we paid, especially when you get a good one like Dana! Well worth the money!
Dana was so helpful in every facet of the process. From the planning process to when we were on site. We knew that we were in good hands. We also felt like we didn’t need to worry about anything because we could always call Dana!
