Why choose a resort for your destination wedding?

Why choose a resort for your destination wedding?

Hey hey! While weddings at sea are beautiful, here’s why it is more convenient to have your destination wedding at a resort. If you’re new here, I’m Dana! Known for feeling all the feels and striking up convos with strangers because I love stories. And of course, I’m known for helping make magical destination weddings for clients who deserve nothing but the best. In fact, my team and I have helped travelers embark on their dream destination weddings since 2015. Check out my thoughts on ways a resort wedding is more flexible than a cruise.

Cruise Port Weddings Can Be Tricky

It’s not very common, but occasionally, a port call has to be canceled due to weather or time. If your heart is set on getting married on a specific beach in Jamaica, be sure you’re okay with having a back-up plan.

Guests Flexibility with a Destination Wedding at Resort

Resort weddings allow guests to come and go as they please. Giving them flexibility with their time & budget.
Guests are able to set their own stay length and dates, as well as choose from a variety of room options at varying price points. Guest can go all in or keep their budget at bay if needed. They’ll appreciate the flexibility here, trust me!

Access to Tours/Excursions

You’ll have more freedom to explore one area with access to local tours and excursions. BONUS: Arrange a catamaran cruise, or other tour, for your entire party to enjoy, and you won’t have to stress about getting back to the ship on time!

A Resort is All Inclusive

With an all inclusive resort wedding, you don’t need to worry about paying for alcohol, extra hotel nights before sailing, or other expenses associated with a cruise. You can fly in, start drinking, and forget the bill!

More Wedding Options

Resort weddings in a destination offer access to a variety of vendors, rentals, and options when it comes to decor, florals, and rentals. You’ll have a wider array of furniture options to choose from, decorations like lanterns, candles, lighting, and more, and more freedom with florals. With a cruise wedding, you are limited to what can be brought on board, port calls have access too, not to mention, timing. Resort weddings offer the leniency of time that cruise weddings in a port don’t allow.

Getting Married Legally At Sea Is Complicated

The process of marrying overseas can be time-consuming. Legalizing a wedding in a foreign port can also be tricky. With an in destination wedding you can either be there ahead of time to file the necessary paperwork, or consider a symbolic wedding and marry in the states before hand (this is what most of my clients do). You want to be sure that your documents will remain valid in your country. In some cases, you might need to do the legal paperwork before or after your cruise wedding.
