Cartagena, Colombia

Machu Picchu, Peru

Galápagos Islands, Ecuador

Buenos Aires, Argentina

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Cartagena, Colombia

Cartagena is one of the most vibrant and visually stunning places to travel in South America, where Caribbean charm meets centuries of history. Inside the walled city, cobblestone streets are lined with colorful colonial buildings, blooming bougainvillea, and hidden courtyards that feel straight out of a dream. It’s a destination that instantly pulls you in—with music in the air, warmth in the culture, and beauty around every corner.

Traveling to Cartagena is about more than just sightseeing—it’s about soaking in the energy. Spend your days exploring historic plazas, taking in the architecture, or hopping out to nearby islands for crystal-clear water and beach time. Evenings are made for rooftop cocktails, incredible cuisine, and strolling through streets that feel alive long after sunset. Cartagena offers a travel experience that is equal parts culture, color, and coastal escape.

Machu Picchu, Peru

Machu Picchu is one of the most iconic destinations in the world—and experiencing it in person is every bit as powerful as you imagine. Set high in the Andes Mountains, this ancient Incan city is surrounded by misty peaks and dramatic landscapes that make the journey feel almost surreal. It’s not just a place you visit—it’s one you feel.

Traveling to Machu Picchu is about the entire journey, not just the destination. From exploring Cusco’s rich history to the Sacred Valley’s breathtaking scenery, every step adds depth and meaning. Whether you arrive by train or take on the Inca Trail, the experience is immersive and unforgettable. It’s a bucket-list destination that offers a rare blend of adventure, history, and connection—perfect for travelers seeking something truly transformative.

Galápagos Islands, Ecuador

The Galápagos Islands offer one of the most extraordinary travel experiences in the world, known for their untouched landscapes and unmatched wildlife encounters. Located off the coast of Ecuador, this remote destination feels like stepping into a living, breathing nature documentary. It’s a place where animals roam freely and the natural world takes center stage.

Traveling to the Galápagos is about exploration in its purest form. Snorkel alongside sea lions, walk among giant tortoises, and witness species you simply won’t find anywhere else. Most experiences are guided and conservation-focused, making the journey both educational and deeply meaningful. For travelers looking for adventure, connection to nature, and something truly one-of-a-kind, the Galápagos delivers an experience that is unforgettable in every sense.

Buenos Aires, Argentina

Buenos Aires is one of the most captivating cities to travel to in South America, blending European elegance with Latin passion in a way that feels completely unique. Wide boulevards, historic architecture, and vibrant neighborhoods like Palermo and San Telmo create a city that is as stylish as it is soulful. It’s a destination that invites you to linger, explore, and truly experience the culture.

Traveling to Buenos Aires is all about rhythm—long dinners, late nights, and a deep appreciation for art, music, and food. From world-class steakhouses to intimate tango performances, every experience feels rich and intentional. Whether you're wandering local markets or enjoying a glass of Malbec at sunset, Buenos Aires offers a travel experience that feels sophisticated, expressive, and full of life.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Rio de Janeiro is one of the most iconic and visually striking destinations in South America, where dramatic landscapes and vibrant culture come together in unforgettable ways. With mountains rising straight from the sea, world-famous beaches like Copacabana and Ipanema, and landmarks like Christ the Redeemer, every view feels larger than life.

Traveling to Rio is about embracing energy, movement, and celebration. Spend your days soaking up the sun, exploring neighborhoods, or taking in panoramic views from Sugarloaf Mountain. By night, the city comes alive with music, dance, and a spirit that’s impossible to ignore. Rio offers a travel experience that is bold, beautiful, and completely immersive—perfect for those who want a destination that feels as exciting as it is breathtaking.

BEST TIME TO TRAVEL

South America’s diverse landscapes mean timing varies by destination, but each season offers something uniquely beautiful.

1

Peak Season (December - March)

This is summer in South America and one of the best times to visit destinations like Patagonia, Brazil, and Argentina. Expect warm weather, vibrant energy, and ideal conditions for exploring cities and coastlines.

2

Shoulder Season (April - June & September - November)

Shoulder seasons offer mild weather, fewer crowds, and excellent value, making them some of the best times to travel to South America. It’s perfect for exploring cities, cultural sites, and diverse landscapes at a more relaxed pace.

3

Winter Season (July - August)

Winter brings cooler temperatures, especially in the southern regions, but it’s also a great time for certain destinations like the Andes and cultural hubs. With fewer tourists, it offers a quieter and more intimate travel experience.

At DWD, we help you determine the best time to visit South America based on your itinerary, travel style, and the experiences you want most.

Frequently Asked Questions

You’ll find our most frequently asked questions below, but if you don’t see your questions - contact us!

Who do you serve?

+

I work with ambitious, kind-hearted couples who want more than just a cookie-cutter destination wedding. They want a meaningful, unforgettable experience, and a wedding that is unique, not like the last resort wedding.. I’m here for you if you value thoughtful planning, real communication, and a seamless process from start to finish.

Please note: I exclusively work with U.S.-based clients.

Is the process collaborative?

+

Absolutely, and it should be! This is your wedding, not mine! I bring the experience, guidance, and planning magic, but your vision leads the way. We'll work closely to make sure the end result reflects you, your vibe, your priorities, your story. Think of me as your detail-obsessed, calm-in-the-chaos planning bestie.

Why a planning fee?

+

My planning fee ensures I can provide full wedding planning support in addition to travel — from design boards and budget guidance to managing all the logistics. It allows me to dedicate the time and expertise needed to create a personalized, seamless experience instead of a cookie-cutter approach.

Why an all inclusive for a destination wedding?

+

All-inclusive resorts make destination weddings smoother, simpler, and more guest-friendly. You get gorgeous venues, built-in catering, accommodations, and activities all in one place.. Plus, your guests know exactly what they’re signing up for, and you’ll have a team on-site to support your big day (and your bartender on standby).

Why should I work with DWD?

+

Because you’ve got better things to do than play travel roulette. As a destination wedding planning expert, I help you skip the guesswork, avoid the common pitfalls, and get access to trusted vendors, perks, and real advice. I’m not here to just “book stuff.” I’m here to make sure your whole experience is seamless, personal, and stress-free.

What’s the difference between you and a traditional travel agent?

+

Most travel agents book trips. I plan experiences.

As a destination wedding planner, I don’t just handle resort bookings and securing the wedding date. I help you design a celebration that’s personal, meaningful, and ridiculously well-organized. From timelines to room blocks to the perfect beachfront venue, I’m in your corner for it all.

Have you been to [insert location here]?

+

I have seen nearly 200 resorts in Mexico & the Caribbean, and, odds are, I’ve seen the right property for you. If I don’t feel 100% confident in a destination or property you’re considering, I’ll be upfront. Your peace of mind matters more than the sale.

How far in advance should I reach out?

+

The sooner, the better—especially for destination weddings! I recommend reaching out at least 12–16 months in advance. That gives us time to find the perfect resort, secure the best rates, and make sure you’re not rushed through the fun stuff (like choosing welcome gifts or picking the perfect wedding day look).
