Annie & Brad Share Highlights from Their Two-Week Italy Honeymoon

What was the highlight of your experience?

Highlight of the trip was the extent to which we got the chance to have more localized experiences – like the Twilight Trastevere food tour, traveling through Greve and San Gimingano wine country and visiting Corzano e Paterno, and staying in Anacapri over Capri. Of course we were very excited to do the bigger and more famous tours and cities, but we also really appreciated getting to do some more unique excursions that gave us a richer and broader perspective of all of the different regions and cultural aspects of Italy.

What was the biggest surprise about your trip?

Biggest surprise was just how cleanly everything was planned. It was extremely busy while we were there, and it felt like all of the cities were packed with tourists that were signed up for the same activities that we were. At every single point in the schedule, we were just impressed with the way that our tours were organized, the way that we were able to avoid the major lines, and how knowledgeable and professional our guides were to facilitate through the crowds. It really is just a testament to how well everything was planned in advance, and it made us so repeatedly happy that we ended up working with Dana to put this trip together. 

Their Favorites Along the Way

What was your favorite spot to visit and why?

My favorite spot was Florence. I really enjoyed all of the tours that we had set up, from going to the top of Il Duomo to walking through the city and ending with access to the Academia museum. I loved getting to learn about the medieval architecture and art history, and we had some of our best meals there! Brad’s favorite spot with San Gimignano. This was a great choice itinerary-wise after a few busy days in Rome, and he loved getting the opportunity to relax, drink some wine, and enjoy the Tuscan countryside. 

What was your favorite meal of the trip?

In Florence, eating Florentina steak! We capitalized on one of Dana’s restaurant recommendations and visited Buca Lapi for traditional Tuscan cooking, and this was one of our favorite meals that we experienced the whole trip! 

What I Do for Couples Planning Their Honeymoon

How would you describe your overall experience with working with DWD?

I would describe the overall experience as seamless! From originally talking through our desires for the trip with Dana, to finalizing the itinerary, to actually experiencing the trip, everything was easy and tailored to what we were looking to get out of our honeymoon. In traveling over the course of two weeks, we transitioned between several different regions in Italy and numerous hotels, and also planned many trips and excursions to get the most out of our time in Italy. Every single plane, train, car, and ferry ride was smooth, and all of our scheduled activities and tours were set up with immaculate timing and transportation. We packed our itinerary with so many things that we were excited about, and were able to experience so much because of the seamless experience that Dana planned for us. 

When it comes to planning a honeymoon, my focus is on creating a personalized, stress-free experience for couples. When couples first reach out, we start with a planning call. I hear about their preferences, wishlist, and needs. Taking those details, I craft a custom itinerary tailored to the couple’s preferences. Nothing is ever cookie-cutter here! From there, I arrange every detail. I manage all the logistics like booking flights, trains, private drivers, and local tours.
