I recently returned from a Sandals WeddingMoon training, which I’ll be talking more about later, and had a great time at Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort in Nassau, Bahamas. So I wanted to take some time this week to share more about my experience there and my thoughts about the resort.
This is my 6th Sandals Resort to visit, and though at first I was unsure, I came to really love this property!
The Resort
Sandals Royal Bahamian is one of the smaller Sandals properties that I’ve visited, but it packs a big punch! With just two main buildings of accommodations, it makes for a very quaint property that is easy to navigate. The resort is home to a spot that was once frequented by the Duke & Duchess of Windsor, you know Queen Elizabeth’s uncle that abdicated the throne all in the name of love forever changing the course of history. Such a neat fact! But I digress. Let’s chat more specifics about the resort.
Sandals Resorts are all inclusive (they call them luxury included), adults only resorts for couples in love. What does that mean? Your stay includes accommodations in a room with a king sized bed (king size only, remember for couples in love), meals, drinks, including alcohol, activities, and non-motorized water sports. Some of the accommodations include transportation from/to the airport in a Mercedes, BMW or Rolls Royce. But it is so much more than a one-liner! The atmosphere, the service, the pools, the dining are all top notch!
Accommodations
Like I mentioned earlier, there are just two main buildings of accommodations here, along with several villas. I’ll be sharing more in depth about the accommodations later in the week, but my favorite are the beachfront walkout rooms that put you just steps from the edge of the sand! There are ocean view rooms, walkout suites, villas with private patio soaking tubs, and even rooms that have walkouts right into a lagoon style pool.
Dining
During my stay, I was able to visit quite a few of the restaurants onsite. From Japanese to French, I was able to dine on cuisine from all over the world. Best part? It is ACTUALLY delicious! So many all-inclusive resorts offer less than mediocre meal options, but Sandals is the complete opposite. Sandals Royal Bahamian was no exceptions! There are 10 restaurants on this property, and none of my meals were disappointing. My favorites? The teppanyaki-style meal at Kimono’s, the Asian inspired restaurant, and the French toast with Appleton rum syrup at Baccarat, the French restaurant.
Beach
The resort boasts two stretches of white sand and crystal clear waters, plus access to an off-shore island. To date, this was the most beautiful water I’d seen (a little foreshadowing there for the future)! On the main resort the sand is soft with minimal shells, and just a bit of rocky areas right around the piers. At the offshore island, one side boasts a white-sandy beach, and the other a rocky beach with unobstructed views of the Caribbean Sea. No matter which spot you choose, grab a chair, with or without a straw hut, and relax to the sound of the waves!
Sandals markets the island as private, and though it is, you must know that one side of it is an excursion for cruise goers stopping in Nassau. From the Sandals side of the island, you’d never know people are “on the other side” except when approaching the island via the ferry.
Activities
Though she be but small, Sandals Royal Caribbean is mighty where it comes to entertainment & activities. Pools with swim-up bars & deejays spinning the latest beat, water activities, including floats, hobi-cats (think tiny sailboats), water trikes, snorkeling, and more, beach volleyball, fitness center, spa, and so much more! Me? You’ll find me right on the beach! Or perhaps on the shore of the private island have a massage to the sound of the waves!
I’ll be sharing more in detail throughout the week. In opening, this is a stunning destination and a great property if you are looking for a more quaint resort to spend your romantic getaway.
