Washington Square Park

Welcome back y’all! Hope your week is going well. Mine has been crazy as usual, so I’m excited tomorrow is Friday. Today I’m back to share our stroll around Washington Square Park in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of Manhattan in NYC.

Our stop in the famous park was after a long day exploring many, many neighborhoods around the city. Washington Square Park was our last stop of the day, and it was a great addition to our itinerary! We explored the park enjoying listening to a talented man play on a baby grand piano (seriously, how did he get the piano there??), hand feeding the squirrels, and seeing views of the Empire State Building and One World Trade Center. There is something about sitting on a park bench in New York City, and people watch. I talked about this before, but I always wonder are they travelers like me, are they unwinding after work, or enjoying time with their family.

For us, our time in Washington Square Park was sort of all of the above. A vacation as an escape from work and enjoying time together. Aside from sitting and relaxing, we enjoyed hand feeding the squirrels most. We picked up a couple of packages of nuts from vendors in the park, and enjoyed feeding the friendly critters. They are so well acquainted to people, they even ate right out of our hands! It was really quite funny, because we joked the night before that Lovely’s mom looked just like the bird lady from Home Alone: Lost in New York. She had the perfect hat and bundled up to look just like her! We all had a great laugh!

Washington Square Park is really a neat spot to visit, and, of course, the arch is one of most famous landmarks in the city. I hope you enjoyed my quick account of our visit.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I’ll be back tomorrow with a little Christmas in April. 🙂
