​Hey y’all! I hope you are having a great week. Mine is flying by, which I’m not mad about. Anyway, I’m back today to talk more about New York. Seeing & perusing churches in New York City is always a special treat! There are beautiful churches at every turn, and two of my favorites are in lower Manhattan near Wall Street and the World Trade Center. Trinity Church & St. Paul’s Chapel are Episcopal churches apart of the same parish, and both feature two of only seven cemeteries in Manhattan. 

Trinity Church

​Trinity Church is located closer to Wall Street than St. Paul’s, and is said to be one of the wealthiest churches in the nation. The church was built in the mid-1800s, and nearly 175 years later is still in pristine standing today. We were lucky enough to get to peek inside, and I was blown away! The incredible cathedral ceiling and stained glass were breathtaking! It is also neat to make note that Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip visited Trinity Church in 1976. However, what might be most notable about Trinity Church is that it is the final resting place of Alexander Hamilton. When you’re on your way to the see the bull on Wall Street, make sure to pop in to Trinity Church. Light a candle, make an offering, and enjoy its beauty.

St. Paul’s Chapel

​Perhaps one of the most remarkable stories stemming from New York City is that of St. Paul’s Chapel, also known as “The Little Chapel That Stood”. It is just a couple of blocks from the World Trade Center sites, and has truly stood the test of time and tragedy. As you can see from the photos, it survived NYC’s Great Fire of 1776 AND the attacks on 9/11. A popular children’s book was written about the remarkable resilience of this chapel. You can find it here. We passed by early in the morning, so unfortunately, we were unable to make it inside, but I imagine it holds many extraordinary stories. Built nearly 250 years ago, St. Paul’s Chapel is an incredible asset to your New York City itinerary. It is an easy walk from the new One World Trade Center, and worth every moment visiting.
