Happy Monday! I hope y’all had a great weekend. I’m so excited for today’s post on St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City. During my first visit to New York, we didn’t venture inside St. Patrick’s as we were put off by the scaffolding outside. Once we returned home and I began researching the places we’d seen and been, I knew right away we had made a big mistake! So, I was sure to add it to our itinerary during our last trip.

Luckily this time the scaffolding was gone, so we enjoyed every single walk by the cathedral. Being across the street from Rockefeller Plaza on 5th Avenue, our visits to the area were many. We enjoyed passing by several times during the day and a couple times in the evening. The evening walks by were a real treat as the massive front doors were open for all to see in. It was then that we caught a glimpse of the cathedral’s true grandeur.
On our last full day, we enjoyed a remarkable tour inside the Catholic cathedral by one of its long-time members. We were given an in-depth look, understanding, and description of the church’s architecture, past, and beauty of the Cathedral and Catholic religion. Though I am not Catholic, it is a religion that I can truly appreciate. The thousands of years of tradition, attention to detail in its churches, chapels, and cathedrals across the world, and Christian base, of course, make it so intriguing to me. The tour of the stunning St. Patrick’s Cathedral only solidified that appreciation. However, even if Catholicism isn’t your cup of religious tea, anyone can appreciate the stunning architecture, design, and history of St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
I highly recommend adding St. Patrick’s to your NYC itinerary, and, if you’re interested, you can find the information for guided tours here. The tours are free; however, a donation is always a lovely gesture.
I hope you enjoyed taking a look inside St. Patrick’s Cathedral. It is a true masterpiece! Thank you so much for stopping by today. I’ll be back later this week for a visit to another NYC museum.
