We are in the last few days of #ChooseCruise month, and I’m excited to head it off with a bang! Hawaiian cruises are a great way to explore all of the islands, and get a taste of the vast offerings of each unique island. Hawaii is one of my very favorite places, Maui being in the highest regard. So I am excited to share ideas for a cruise stop in Maui! 

Many Hawaiian cruises have overnight stays in the Maui giving you ample time to explore my favorite island! Maui has endless activities, so you’ll definitely want to come back to stay just on the island, but here are a few of my absolute musts on the Valley Isle.

Mt. Haleakala 
​You won’t regret making the winding & steep drive to the summit of Mt. Haleakala, which means House of the Sun in Hawaiian, to watch the sun come up (or go down). I recommend taking a tour, as the drive can be a bit treacherous in the dark, but the journey is worth it! Be sure to dress WARM. Yes, it will be COLD. Likely a cold you have never experienced. But my goodness, that sunrise is nothing short of breathtaking! If your cruise has an over night stop, try to catch the incredible sunrise, but if not you can also take a tour to watch the sunset above the clouds. This is my #1 pick for a tour in Maui!

The Road to Hana
I’ve dubbed it the greatest adventure on Maui! The road to Hana is packed with adventure at every curve and one lane bridge, and there are a lot! Rent a car and follow my Road to Hana itinerary found here or go on a tour to hit all the highlights. Be sure the drive as soon as you can in the morning, and plan to be gone all day. So you’ll want to pack a cooler and towels for swimming. The road to Hana has 620 curves and 59 bridges, many one land, so it is a good idea to be back off the road before dark.

Lahaina
​There are 3 places on earth that have my heart—home, New York City, and Lahaina, Maui! It boasts the cutest little shops with unique art, fabrics, and paintings, yummy restaurants with views to die for, and history galore, including a thriving banyan tree planted in 1873! This was hands down our favorite area on Maui. We frequented here nearly everyday during our 10 day stay on the island. Whether for tours, eating, shopping, sight seeing, or just relaxing watching the boats go by between islands, it’s an amazing, quaint spot for just about anyone.

The Valley Isle of Hawaii is full of so many beautiful sights at every turn! Nature and adventure are in abundance in Maui, and I have no doubt you will love your cruise stop there!
