Hey y’all! I’m back again to share more from Victoria, British Columbia. Just a few more attractions, and we’ll be wrapping up with this great city. Today, I’m touching on our visit to the beautiful Craigdarroch Castle!

This stunning Victoria-era castle was built in the late 1800s as an estate. Much to our benefit, it was later turned into a museum. I hadn’t seen or thought much of the castle when planning our trip, but my mother-in-law mentioned it might be fun, so we made sure to fit it into our visit. Boy, am I glad we did! The wood work & stained glass within the castle are absolutely unbelievable! 

As you can see from the incredible staircase, which you may recognize from movies such as The Boy, the castle boasts several floors to explore. Even though the castle is large, your intrigue is kept throughout exploring. At every turn there is incredible wood work, like serpent staffs, beautiful furniture, including a Steinway Piano, and beautiful stained glass. One of my favorite features was a curved door leading into one of the turrets. 

It’s hard to believe that this some 25,000 square foot castle was once a home, but I’m so glad it was well kept long after changing owners several times. They just don’t build things like that anymore! This along with Butchart Gardens, which I’ll share about next week, are my must see places in Victoria. Be sure to add them to your itinerary!
