Welcome back! I hope your week is going well. Can you believe half of May is already past? Soon 2018 will be half gone. It’s mind blowing how quickly time passes by. Anyway, today I am back to share our visit to another museum in Manhattan, the American Museum of Natural History.

We entered the museum from the subway entrance, which was quite beautiful in and of itself. The mosaic tile art in the subway halls were a peek into what would come. We didn’t get to spend a ton of time here, so we just hit a couple of highlights. We spent our time mainly in the Fossil Halls, exploring dinosaur and mammoth bones, and had a quick walk through the Human Origins and Cultural Halls.

Being that mammoths are a pretty big deal around Waco, many mammoth skeletons have been found in and around Waco, Texas, we enjoyed seeing them in the Hall of Advanced Mammals. However, the highlight for us was seeing triceratops & tyrannosaurus rex skeletons in the Hall of Ornithischian Dinosaurs and the titanosaur skeleton in the Miriam and Ira D. Wallach Orientation Center.

I don’t think I’d seen dinosaur skeletons before, perhaps as a kid, but I can’t remember for sure. So it was so remarkable to see these creatures come to life by bone. You can’t really imagine their sheer size without seeing the skeletons put together, so they were incredible to see.

There was so much more to see here, but like I said we just didn’t have a lot of time. We would have loved to have spent more time here, but perhaps we will on our next visit to New York.
