Alaskan Cruise Family Vacation Recap

This past July our family went on an epic Alaskan cruise adventure! It was an incredible trip that we won’t soon forget. We saw so much wildlife, took in beautiful scenery, and went dog sledding across a glacier. Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be sharing our Alaskan vacation more in-depth, but I wanted to start out with a recap and my top 5 reasons and Alaskan Cruise should be your next vacation, or even your honeymoon. Family vacation, couple’s getaway, group trip, or even honeymoon, an Alaskan cruise is an amazing option for so many reasons. Here are my top reasons why!

Delicious Dining | Ships that sail Alaska itineraries are top-notch. Lucky for us, that means top-notch dining. We sailed Norwegian Cruise Line’s ship Joy, and the food was THE best food we’d had on any vacation EVER! Thoughts from colleagues and clients have me leaning towards the belief that this is true for most ships sailing Alaska. From steakhouses & seafood, sushi bars, American dining, specialty bars & coffeeshops, hibachi/teppanyaki style dining, and so much, there are options for everyone!
Wildlife Sighting | Bald eagles, seals, and numerous species of whales, wildlife sightings are practically a sure thing! This is something that the entire family can get into. The kids will be giddy to spot seals, and there’s something incredible to see whales in the wild at any age!
Dog Sledding | Ok, this was hands down one of the most incredible experiences of my life, so I had to include it here. Dog sledding across a glacier is a pricey excursion, but it is SO worth it! I would love to do this again and bring my kids along when they are a bit older. That being said, this would be a wonderful experience for the young & old!
Glacier Cruising | This is such a beautiful sight for anyone to take in! I was in awe, my one-year-old son was in awe, pointing at the calved glacier (chunks of ice) floating along, everyone on deck taking it in was in awe. As you can tell, it is hard to put into words, truly incredible.
Romance, Relaxation, AND Adventure | Snuggled up on your balcony together, soaking in the sights of a majestic glacier or whales frolicking in the ocean, what could be more romantic? Hanging out on the deck reading a book & sipping warm coffee, what could be more relaxing? Dog sledding across a glacier, seeing an orca whale breach above the water, or hiking in some of the most beautiful country you’ve ever seen, have you heard of anything more adventurous? Need I say more?
